Why Forbid Food?

Learning from the Forbidden Fruit
We live in a world and at a time when food seems to be under attack. From meat, to gluten, to sugar, to the non-locally grown, much of the food that sustains us is perceived as forbidden and even morally stained. What does this reality say about our society's values? What can Torah teach us about the price and benefits of living in a culture that forbids food? In this session, we will examine the first biblical instance of forbidden food in order to think through these choices and questions.
