Revealing the Hidden Face of God’s Love

Ateret Zvi 5783

Rabbi Josh Cahan

The moment of revelation is a hugely symbolic event, a unique moment of direct divine-human encounter, and the episode that sets the tone and thus the very nature of the relationship between God and Israel going forward far into the future. Shifts in how Jews have understood the nature of God’s presence in the world have often been reflected in changed interpretations of that encounter, encoding changing ideas about what God asks and expects of us and how we, in turn, should seek connection with God.
