The Hadar Institute is delighted to announce the premiere of “Torah Time”, a new podcast that helps busy families make quality time for learning the weekly parashah. “Torah Time” is designed for kids ages 6+ to listen independently or together with families and teachers. Season one will cover the Book of Shemot. The first three episodes are now available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Stitcher, and Hadar's online Torah library.

Hosted by R. Miriam-Simma Walfish and her 10-year-old daughter, Adira, “Torah Time” provides kids and parents with an accessible, high-quality audio resource for learning the weekly Torah portion, while modeling how parents can learn with and from their children.

“Torah Time” is meant to be a catalyst for learning Torah as a family, outside of a school setting. That’s where kids see how grownups allocate and devote their time,” said R. Miriam-Simma.

“Making time for learning as a family creates better relationships and more love in the home -- love of Torah and love for each other -- and ‘Torah Time’ can help you unlock that potential.”

“I love the stories in the parashah and I can’t wait to tell you about them,” said Adira.

Meet your hosts, R. Miriam-Simma and Adira!

"Torah Time” was also developed with the expertise of Pedagogy of Partnership, a division of Hadar that harnesses the power of havruta to help bring Torah to the next generation. PoP’s relationship-centered approach empowers children and families to develop habits of wonder, empathy, and responsibility toward others and Torah.

This new podcast is another major investment in Hadar’s work with children and families. In 2018, Hadar announced a partnership with Pedagogy of Partnership. In 2019, Hadar began operating the Maimonides Moot Court Competition, a Jewish legal competition with separate tracks for high school and college students.

Hadar’s Children and Families Division was founded in 2020 to formalize and expand these efforts to bring high-quality Jewish educational programming and content to kids and their grownups. Since then, Hadar has grown its ongoing, online learning opportunities, with Middle School Mishnah Club, Parashah Club, and Learning With Grandparents. After launching Devash, Hadar’s weekly parashah magazine, “Torah Time” represents the next step towards Hadar’s goal of empowering our youngest community members and their families to live out Judaism in the home.

We are excited to continue growing this crucial part of Hadar’s work and we look forward to learning with you and your family! Subscribe to “Torah Time” on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

“Torah Time” is made possible thanks to the generous support of the Zalik Foundation Fund and the William Davidson Foundation. For partnership and other distribution opportunities, contact Mara Braunfeld, Director of Children and Families, at [email protected].
